Episode 20 – Welcome To My Intervention

December, 2014

Merry Christmas everyone!

This episode sees us amazing even ourselves on the sheer amount of content we can pack into a single month’s episode.  In short, this month’s show should easily outlast even the longest of ‘Griswold-esque’ family get-togethers and equal about 2.7 stocking stuffers!

Brent and I both have been hard at work on our respective projects this month – I’m working on my ZooKeeper and I almost score a Pac-Man while Brent closes the deal and gets a Cinematronics Rip-Off all the while logging some time working on the Burgertime.

With arcades being in major focus this month, we dive into a wide assortment of topics, ranging from beginning an ongoing dialog on tube swaps and Deep-Dive into PCB corrosion repair.  We also cover a lot of ground with the latest in reproduction parts, projects and talk about what’s new in the hobby.

With so much going on the arcade side, we’d be remiss to leave out our favorite ‘second love’ of Pinball, and we catch up on what’s happening by discussing several breaking news items unfolding at Stern, Heighway and Dutch Pinball.  We also discuss our recent trip to Chicago where we were able to take a tour of the Stern Pinball factory and spend some time at Logan Arcade.

We wrap up the year by featuring two fantastic interviews – the first with Aaron Reid (CraftyMech on KLOV) and discuss our new favorite tool – the Monitor Test Pattern Generator – where we get a behind-the-scenes look into the development, engineering, testing and future of this excellent product.  In the second interview, we sit down with Jack Benson, software engineer at Stern.  Jack gives us some tremendous insight into what it’s like to work at Stern, develop code for some of our favorite new games and work alongside some of the legends in the industry today.

Here’s how the episode breaks down:

  • Updates and what we’ve had going on
